大学院のゼミ紹介（通称「特研」について）：方法学編その2（深澤・築道ゼミ）

特研紹介シリーズも今回が最終回となります。最後は、現在最も多くの大学院生が所属している深澤・築道ゼミを紹介したいと思います。所属している院生が、紹介文を寄せてくれました。前回紹介した松浦ゼミもそうですが、「ザ・英語教育学」とでも言いましょうか、花形の領域の中で、各自がオリジナリティあふれるユニークな研究を行っています。

英語教育学特別研究（第二言語習得・英語教授過程領域）では、毎週、担当の院生2，3名が自身の修士・博士論文進捗状況について発表をしています。他のゼミに比べて留学生も非常に多く、先生と学生、国籍なども関係なく、和気あいあいとした雰囲気の中で議論が進められています。それぞれの研究テーマは多岐に渡り、様々な視点から実際の教育現場に貢献しようと研究を進めています。特研では、院生の発表に対し、先生方だけではなく他の院生からもコメントや質問が飛び交うため、非常に議論が深まります。また、学生同士の学び合いの機会は特研内だけに留まりません。発表の準備をする段階から、学生同士で自身の研究を見せ合い、より良い研究にするために話し合います。ゼミに所属する全員がそれぞれ異なった価値観や学習経験、背景知識を持っているため、一つの研究に対して多角的な視点から学ぶことができます。さらに、自分の研究内容とは異なった研究について議論することで、より知識が広がります。その知識は結果的に、自分の研究にも生かすことができます。このような学習サイクルが確立された大学院生活を通して強く感じられるのは、研究は一人だけで完結するのではなく、先生方や他の学生から刺激を受けながら、みんなで高め合っていくものだということです。

It was my first time abroad when arrived in Japan last year, in spring. I was so excited to get a glimpse of Japanese cherry blossom and experience the wonderful culture of Japan which I had heard so much about. My only worry was speaking and understanding Japanese, as I had not studied Japanese language before. However, upon my arrival, I realized how promising and accommodating Japan is, despite the language barrier. My stay in Japan so far has been wonderful, exciting, busy, yet amazing. This April, I officially started my master’s course in Curriculum Development and Instructional Science. My supervisor, all the other professors of the department, the senior students and also my classmates have always encouraged me to meet my expectations. In my department, abundance of research is carried out by fellow students, representing various fields of education. Tokken is held every Thursday morning, which gives the scholars the opportunity to present details of their research within the study group. This initiates discussions, which I consider to be extremely beneficial as we can focus on the problematic areas of our research and receive valuable suggestions and critiques to enrich our studies. Students are also provided with a comfortable space to work on their research, where we can study while enjoying some snacks and good coffee. I am so glad and proud of being a graduate student in Hiroshima University. Joining this university is one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.
